Masterstudiengang "Suchttherapie und Sozialmanagement in der Suchthilfe"

Im WiSe 2015/16 startete der Masterstudiengang „Suchttherapie und Sozialmanagement in der Suchthilfe M.A.” (Flyer) an der Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. Dieser integriert eine von den Deutschen Rentenversicherern zertifizierte suchttherapeutische Ausbildung und richtet sich an SozialarbeiterInnen, PsychologInnen und ÄrztInnen.

Main objectives of the Institute of Addiction Research Frankfurt

Establishing addictions research at the University of Applied Sciences Establishing collaboration with other national and international research institutes and networks on addictions Disseminating research findings into teaching at the University of Applied Sciences as well as to a wider public (e.g. social workers in the field, health care providers, policy makers)

Main research activities and ongoing projects

Research partner in "The German project of heroin assisted treatment of opiate dependent patients - A multicentre, randomised, controlled clinical trial" and collaborator of the Centre of Interdisciplinary Studies in Hamburg, head of the German Heroin Study (www.zis-hamburg.de). In cooperation with FOGS, Cologne (www.fogs-gmbh.de) responsible for the development and implementation of a Manual on Case Management and Motivational Interviewing for social workers in the project as well as for data analysis on psychosocial treatment of patients in the study.
The study is funded by

  • the National Ministry of Health, Berlin "Best-practice" cases and best examples of social interventions with Case Management and Motivational Interviewing in the treatment of drug dependents who are patients in the German Heroin Study.
  • the Hesse Ministry of Sciences and Arts, Wiesbaden Study on alcohol-dependent mothers and their attitudes and emotions towards their children and significant others. (Planning stage: Alcohol dependent fathers and their attitudes and emotions towards their children and significant others).
  • the Hesse Ministry of Sciences and Arts, Wiesbaden "Consumption rooms for drug addicts in Frankfurt am Main: User profiles" - analysis of data of the documentation system implemented in 2002/2003 in the consumption rooms in Frankfurt am Main.
  • the City Council of Frankfurt am Main; in cooperation with the City Office on Drug Problems  "Smoking room" for drug addicts in one low threshold center in Frankfurt am Main: Feasibility study and client profiles. Analysis of the data of the documentation systems implemented in the smoking room.
