The congress titled „energy-suction agglomeration – potentials in planning and building for the turnaround in energy policy“ took place on February 18th 2013 in Frankfurt am Main. The draft of a ten-point-plan for the turnaround in energy policy in agglomerations has been discussed and has been approved as a memorandum. Statements and demands on efficiency strategies, planning and potential analyses for energy supply through renewable energies, the behavior of users under financial aspects and on mobility have been made.
Impulse-lectures thematized the role of regional planning in the turnaround in energy policy, the surrounding area as an energy supplier, passive houses, potentials from electro mobility and the challenges of the City Frankfurt on the way to being the solar capital. Speakers included Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann, Bernd Utesch, Managing Director of the energy supplier ABG nova GmbH, Birgit Simon, chief adjunctive of the Regionalverband Frankfurt Rhein-Main, Dr. Justus Brans, head of division in the Hessian ministry for the environment, energy, agriculture and consumer protection, Dr. Werner Neumann, head of the energy department of the city Frankfurt, as well as Rolf Toyka, managing director of the Hesse State Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners
