In this project, students under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Petra Rucker-Gramm and Prof. Dr. Michael Horstmann researched and developed innovative load-bearing concepts and material compositions for concrete. The aim of the competition was to turn the building material into robust canoes, which could be paddled during the race on 28 and 29 June in Heilbronn. The FRA-UAS team took 5th place (out of 60) in the design competition and 11th place in the construction competition.
The participating group of students had set themselves the goal of constructing a particularly sustainable canoe. Some primary raw materials were substituted by unregulated secondary raw materials. All in all, the project is integrated into the new teaching concept "Components of the Future", which was largely initiated by the two teachers and five others.
