A „buddy“ for students from abroad
Each semester the international office is looking for „buddies“ for exchange students from all over the world that study at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences for one or two semesters. “Buddies” help exchange students getting to know and adjusting to German university life (and probably also the night life J ) and are important contact persons for them. If you want to meet new people from all over the world and possibly improve your foreign languages you should use this opportunity. Additionally you get the chance to take part in the cultural program for exchange students. Further information on the website of the International Office.
Elections – Student advocacy groups
Each winter semester you can elect the student council of your faculty – an advocacy group from the faculty 3 – which works voluntarily in committees within the faculty (e.g. faculty council, the committees and commissions of the faculty)or across the university (e.g. student parliament (StuPa) or senate). According to the current Higher Education Act the turnout has to be at least 25% since the student parliament and therefore student advocacy groups depend on it. Postal voting is possible too. If you want to express your own opinions you can offer yourself as a candidate for commissions or participate in university committees. You can get more information for example from your student council (building 4, room 104).
This is the introductory event for all new students at the beginning of the semester. It is organized by the Student Advisory Center and the faculty. A big part of the introduction is done by students from higher semesters. If you want to help too you are welcome to get in touch with the student council (building 4, room 104).
Social engagement via „service learning“
Here you benefit from service learning as teach-study-format because it connects social engagement in class and specific needs and practical challenges. You develop solutions for projects from social and public areas which can benefit others and be useful for public interest. However, social engagement is also possible apart from academic courses. You are looking for voluntary work? You are looking for service learning courses in your degree course? You have specific ideas for a service learning project? You think outside the box and are looking for insights into (other) professional fields? You are familiar with businesses oriented towards social welfare or public institutions that are interested in cooperating with Frankfurt UAS?
If you have questions or are interested, feel free to contact us! More information and a short explanatory video about service learning are available online (German only).
