Registration

As a student you can register via email. With registering your study chip will be activated and will serve as your library card.

Student having started Oct 2017 or after

please send an email to ausleihe(at)bibl.fra-uas.de  and include the following information/documents: 

  • photo/scan of your study chip
  • photo/scan of your passport and confirmation of registration (Meldebescheinigung)* or residence title (Aufenthaltstitel)
  • date of birth
  • faculty

Please add your university email adress to your library account after registering with the library. 

Student having started before Oct 2017

Please fill out the registration form first. After completing the form please send an email to ausleihe(at)bibl.fra-uas.de

Please include:

*Please note: If you are Erasmus student, please please inform us in you email. As Erasmus student you don't need a confirmation of registration (Meldebescheinigung).

Please fill out the registration form first. After completing the form please send an email to ausleihe(at)bibl.fra-uas.de and include the following information/documents: 

  • First and last name
  • German ID (Personalausweis)
    • or passport and confirmation of registration (Meldebescheinigung)
    • or residence title (Aufenthaltstitel)
  • a confirmation of your being employed at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences

We will notify you when your library card is ready for you to pick up. For faculty and staff special borrowing conditions apply. In case you are listed on one of our websites or the university intranet, we do not need further confirmation.

As an assistant lecturer please send the following form in addition.

As a member of the project staff, please send the following form in addition.

You are welcome to continue using the library after graduation. Please keep your study chip for this purpose. Your library membership can be renewed by email  ausleihe(at)bibl.fra-uas.remove-this.de.

Please include

  • first and last name
  • library card number ( below the barcode on your Study Chip)
  • residence address
  • date of birth

Even if your are not a a member of the Frankfurt UAS you can register with and use the library. Please fill out the registration form first. After completing the form please send an email to ausleihe(at)bibl.fra-uas.de and include the following information/documents

  • First and last name
  • German ID (Personalausweis)
    • or passport and confirmation of registration (Meldebescheinigung)
    • or residence title (Aufenthaltstitel)

As a minor you need to send the following documents in addition:

  • a letter of consent signed by your parent(s) or legal guardian (letter of consent available in German only)
  • identification card or copy of the identification card of your parents or legal guardian who signed the letter of consent

Borrowing

Borrowing and returning via self-service machines:

Before you come to the library please:

  • As a guest you need to register with the library in case you haven't used the library before (possible via email only)
  • Research the books you need via the library catalog to keep you stay short

Usage restrictions in the library:

  • You need to wear a face mask during your entire stay in the library.
  • Only up to 15 people are allowed to stay in the library at any one time (except for the main reading room)
  • Please keep your stay in the library as short as possible. This will allow other students to use the library.
  • No studying or sitting in the library, except for the main reading room (for students in their final term only)
  • The computer lab and printing station is closed (scanner can be used)

Loan terms for students and guests

Standard loan period: 28 days.

  • All items with no remark in the catalog (except for journals, standards and final theses)

Short term lending: for one day (or Friday for the weekend), items cannot be renewed.

  • All items with the remark short term lending in the library catalog

Not for loan:

  • All items with a the remark usage in the libary only in the library catalog
  • Journals, standards
  • Final theses

Here you can check when your books are due:

Receipt:

  • When you borrow books you will get a receipt indicating the due date.

Library account:

Email alert:

  • Please add your email address to your library account. You will receive a loan reminder by email one week ahead of the due date and a second reminder one day ahead. For books on short term lending there will not be a reminder.
  • Please note: It is still your responsibility to return the books or renew your loans on time. The library cannot guarantee the delivery of reminders by email.

You also can renew standard loans up to 4 times via your library account. Renewal is not possible if someone else has reserved the item.

Which items can be renewed:

  • All items with standard loan period (28 days)

Renewal period:

  • 28 days
  • The new loan period starts with the date of renewing.
  • You can renew items until the day the books are due.

Number of possible renewals:

Renewing is not possible if:

  • the book is for short-term lending  only
  • you already renewed the item twice,
  • the book is overdue,
  • someone else reserved it,
  • your membership has expired
  • you have fines to pay.
  • via the book return boxes in front of the library entrance (building no 3)
  • via the self-service machines

 

  • Instead of four weeks you can borrow books and other items for two months;
  • you can renew the items once online for additional two months;
  • you can reserve up to 5 items currently on loan.

Please note: A renewal is not possible if your library account is blocked due to fines, or the items are requested by another user.

To take advantage of this service, please ask the registrar's office (Prüfungsamt) to confirm you are currently writing a final paper by sending the following form to ausleihe(at)bibl.fra-uas.remove-this.de

Number of possible reservations:

  • You may reserve up to 4 items currently on loan. 

How to reserve items:

  • Once you found the book in the library catalog just click on reserve.
  • Log into your library account by entering your library card number and your password. Preset as your password is your date of birth (ddmmyy).

Picking up reserved books:

  • An alert that the book is ready for pick-up will be sent via email.
  • The item will be available for you at the library for 5 days.
  • In case you did not add your email address to your library account, you can check directly in your library account, if the requested item is ready for pick-up.

You can also make a purchase suggestion.

Fines

All fines have been suspended from March 17 until the end of June. Fines will be installed again July 1. Please make sure to return or renew items in time. Please not, any fines that were owing on your account before March 17 will accumulate starting July 1.

Fees and fines

  • 1st overdue notice: 3 Euro per item
  • 2nd overdue notice: plus 3 Euro per item
  • 3rd overdue notice: plus 6 Euro per item   

Fees according to VwKostO-MWK and HVwKostG.

  • Books or other library material: 11 Euro administration fee per item plus cost of item
  • Replacement fee for new library card: 15 Euro  (according to VwKostO-MWK and HVwKostG)

Please note that the borrower is responsible for accumulated overdue fines whether or not the overdue notice is received. Outstanding fines and other charges will prevent borrowing, reserving and renewing and must be paid in full.

  • at the service desk from your Study Chip/MensaCard/StudentCard of Hochschule RheinMain and Geisenheim/Goethe-Card account
  • at the PayStation by girocard/Maestro card
