FAQ on the measures of the university

On this page we summarize important information about the actions of Frankfurt UAS during the Corona crisis. The web page will continue to be populated as additional information becomes available. This information will always be kept as current as possible; however, due to the very rapidly changing situation, we cannot guarantee that it is up-to-date. Please always check the current status.

The winter semester 2021/22 takes place on campus and online.

All people entering the university premises to attend, give or supervise lessons or exams must abide by the "3G" rule (vaccinated, recovered or tested, from the German: "geimpft, genesen oder getestet"). The state of Hesse regulates which test is necessary and how long it is valid for. Please bear in mind that self-conducted tests do not count as proof for the "3G" rule.

At the library and the Self-learning center ("Selbstlernzentrum") as well as the student cafés, "2G" (only vaccinated and recovered) ist mandatory 

A medical or a respirator mask (FFP2) must be worn upon entering the buildings. This mask requirement also applies when seated in a seminar room or lecture hall.

A service provider on campus carries out tests and issues test certificates.

The university’s security service will be on site 24 hours a day on weekdays and will check the "3G" certificates at building's entrances, on the stairwells or in front of seminar rooms by scanning the QR codes in the "CovPassCheck" app.

Only the data stored in the QR code of the "3G" certificate will be scanned and displayed on a mobile device. A photo ID (StudyChip, ID card, LandesTicket, etc.) must be presented as identification. The data will not be otherwise collected or stored. These controls will be performed exclusively by external personnel.

Security personnel will also check the mask requirement on circulation routes within the buildings and in student work spaces. If necessary, individuals without masks will be politely but emphatically reminded and given a citation. In the event of a repeated violation, individuals will be escorted off the premises and banned from campus for 24 hours.
Students and faculty who are not fully vaccinated or recovered or cannot produce a certified test no older than 24 hours will be ordered off campus. If fraudulent documents are presented, staff will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including criminal charges, students may be exmatriculated. We emphasize: The misconduct of individuals must neither endanger nor shake the strong community as well as the health of individuals; such a pandemic can only be overcome together in solidarity.
When entering the buildings on campus, compliance with the 3G rule must be demonstrated. This is done centrally at registration desks in buildings 1 and 4 between 6:15 am and 6 pm. To do this, please show security personnel the applicable certificate (vaccinated, recovered or tested) and appropriate proof of identity. Security will check the proof of vaccination, recovery or testing (not older than 24 hours!) and will give everyone a day-appropriate colored wristband, which is mandatory to wear around the wrist. With this you can enter all buildings.

  • People with full vaccination protection or who have recovered may also voluntarily receive a black wristband valid for several days. This more robust and waterproof version is still a transitional solution and entitles to simplified access to 2G areas (see further explanations below). New bands may be received at any time.
  • Starting probably on Jan. 10, 2022, permanent wristbands made of silicone will be available for vaccinated and recovered persons, which can be used as long as the situation requires. Only once these wristbands are issued will data on the date of vaccination or recovery be collected and documented in accordance with data protection regulations.
  • Random checks will also be made at the access doors and in the buildings, as well as in seminar rooms, to prevent improper use. The checks will sometimes be carried out by means of scans of the credentials. Random reviews will also occur during ongoing events.

2G areas:

  • Cafeteria and cafés
  • Self-study center and study areas in the library (borrowing is possible in the library under 3G)
  • CampusSport (in rooms with 2G, outside without Corona restrictions)

All other areas of the university continue to be usable with 3G.

The instructions of the local responsible health office always apply!
Until you have the test result, behave as if you were tested positive.

If you have tested positive for SARS COVID19 or have to go into quarantine (also called domestic seclusion) due to official orders, e.g. as a related person in the same household or so-called contact category I, the official orders apply.

For staff and faculty:

Within the university, please be sure to inform your supervisors and Occupational Health and Safety (arbeitsschutz(at)hr.fra-uas.de) as well as the HR department via abwesenheitsmeldung(at)hr.fra-uas.remove-this.de.

As long as the course of the illness is mild, you will perform your work duties remotely.

For students:

Immediately report the quarantine or Category I contact to Occupational Safety and Health: arbeitsschutz(at)hr.fra-uas.de.
If necessary, further steps will be taken and communicated to protect university employees.

If you have had contact via third parties, our robust recommended safety measures will suffice.

If you have had close contact (e.g. contact under 1.5 meters without a mask for more than 15 minutes or several hours with a mask in an unventilated room) with a person who has tested positive, the previous instructions concerning "tested positive" apply.

If you had Category II contact, meaning you followed the rules ("AHA+L": distance + hygiene +  masks + ventilation) , then almost no further action needs to be taken. For more information, see the RKI's chart on contact tracing (Schaubild des RKI).

However, pay even stricter attention to compliance and implementation of the AHA+L rules and contact the authorities at 116117 or the local phone number if symptoms occur.

If you have tested positive for SARS COVID19 or are required to go into quarantine (or domestic seclusion) by official orders, for example, as a related person in the same household or so-called contact category I, the official orders apply.

For students:
Report the quarantine or contact Category I immediately to Occupational Safety and Health: arbeitsschutz(at)hr.fra-uas.remove-this.de.

For staff and faculty:
Within the university, please be sure to inform your supervisors and Occupational Health and Safety ( arbeitsschutz(at)hr.fra-uas.remove-this.de) as well as the HR department via Abwesenheitsmeldung(at)hr.fra-uas.remove-this.de.

If necessary, further steps will be taken here to protect university employees.

If you have had contact through third parties, our robust and above recommended measures are sufficient.

Be sure to comply with quarantine regulations and requirements.

Our institution of higher order education will reopen without restrictions on October 11, 2021, during its regular opening hours, so semester tickets can be validated as usual.

The federal legislature has declared that "pandemic-related closures of educational institutions within the meaning of Section 2 BAföG as well as abroad (short-term closures of educational institutions or extension of their lecture-free periods) are harmless under funding law." Students, pupils who are dependent on benefits under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) should therefore not suffer any financial disadvantages if their training institution is temporarily closed or the start of the semester is postponed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.For more information, visit the HMWK website at  How does Corona affect the issues surrounding BAföG and AFBG? Regarding options for recognition, repetition or conclusion of interrupted or aborted internships, we are in contact with the practice partners and will be working out a joint solution.

Dear students, many services (secretariats, examination offices, etc.) with personal contact have been restricted at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences due to the corona pandemic Restrictions are also to be expected with regard to the telephone availability of these service units.

This page is intended to give you a brief overview of the current regulations and possible measures wich are specific to faculty 2. The central platform for information concerning your lectures is Moodle.

As usual, you can send final papers, project work and similar written work as well as other documents to us by post. Please note that the postmark determines whether you have met the deadline. In addition, the digital submission of written works is now also accepted. You can upload your paper via Moodle in the course Prüfungsamt Fachbereich 2.

Extensions are possible, but only upon request. Such requests must be made by e-mail directly to our Examination Office (German only).

In special cases, a personal appointment can be arranged. For that, please send an e-mail to the office of examinations and state your matters besides your matriculation number and study program. The office staff will then respond with a proposed appointment time.
Please refrain from visiting the office of examinations spontaneously due to present distancing and hygiene regulations.

Persons who have been in a COVID-19 risk area abroad as currently defined by the RKI must follow the quarantine regulations of the State of Hesse as well as the City of Frankfurt before they are allowed to return to our university.

Employees of the State of Hesse are expected not to travel to countries outside the Federal Republic of Germany if the government has classified the trip as risky and it is not urgently necessary.

The (re-) entry to Germany is possible for students from non-EU countries under certain conditions. Please read the information on entry and quarantine regulations.

Information on Covid-19

Dear participants,

in view of the development in connection with the corona virus, all further training events of the KompetenzCampus will be cancelled until the end of April 2020.

We currently assume that we will return to regular operations on Monday, 04 May 2020.

All participants who have booked an event with us after this date will be contacted again separately.
