Information for prospective students of Applied Biosciences Dual (B. Sc.)

Graduates of this dual bachelor degree course Applied Biosciences in collaboration with the partner companies the students attain their first professional qualification, which allows them to combine scientific theories, as well as practice- and research oriented methods and techniques of biosciences and to successfully transfer and implement them.

Graduates of this degree course have a broad biology-relevant, mathematical and scientific knowledge. Graduates of this degree course have a broad biology-relevant, mathematical and scientific knowledge. You have well-founded knowledge in the fundamentals of molecular, cell and organism-relevant biology and are able to analyze, explain, develop solutions, present and critically reflect. You are familiar with tasks in biosciences and can investigate tasks of biosciences on a molecular level.

You are able to connect expert, cross-subject scientific thinking with the practical implementation in laboratories of research and development, the production-accompanying analytics and quality assurance and are familiar with your work field and operational processes in an industrial company.

Questions and problem solutions can be documented and presented considering international research results in German and in English. You have acquired the ability to communicate and collaborate in national and international teams and can represent the content and problems of biosciences when communicating with experts and laymen in German and English.

Course catalogue

Modularization during the studies is a study structure, in which courses such as lectures, exercises, practical internships, excursions, excursions or seminars about certain topics are combined in modules. The structure of a module is determined by the competence, which is to be achieved upon completion of the module.

The module manual entails information on the duration, credits, type of examination, requirements, study results, workload, type of learning, content, literature, and the representative of the module of a degree course. Further information can be found in the guideline to modularization and credit point provision of the Federal and State Commission. The module overview and the study content can be downloaded as a PDF.

The degree course entails lectures, seminars, practical laboratory courses, and projects – mainly in German but also in the English language. You must conclude a contract with one of the partner companies as a requirement to enroll into this degree course. Information on the application can be provided upon request.
