Theory and practice - in alternation
This intensive degree course at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences guarantees an exceptionally high quality standard in the conveyance of theoretical knowledge in the frame of lectures, tutorials and during the application and in-depth training during practical study phases at a cooperating company from the aviation industry.
The studies convey basic knowledge in order to be able to enter numerous fields of activities: specialist and methodological knowledge in the field of business administration, scientific work, and the acquisition of action and problem-solving competencies. At the same time a specialization with respect to the aviation industry, its framework conditions and its particular questions with respect to national and international contexts takes place. The theory- and practice phases take place in an alternating manner, a 13-week rhythm.
It is our task to define the required competencies in practice with the companies together and continuously review them and permanently further develop them.
This degree course is directed at prospective students who have a great affinity to the aviation industry, and who are interested in starting their career at a cooperating company. You complete a qualified management training with modules especially designed for the aviation sector. Six study phases are completed within a company, close to reality case studies and problem-oriented project work promote the interdisciplinary, networked thinking and enables you to implement theoretical knowledge into operation practice. Training in languages and interdisciplinary modules strengthen social competencies and foster intercultural understanding.
The dual degree course provided me with wide-ranging knowledge. If you show commitment during the practical phase, you can gain valuable insight into numerous different areas of aviation management and work on small projects. These experiences cannot be made through internships in my opinion.
The Fraport AG offered numerous options in the frame of the aviation management studies. This experience pays off at the Tower Company GmbH, which is a rather small company where every employee is required to work with a broader set of skills and ultimately, was a reason to be hired.
Matthias Hieronimus, the Tower Company GmbH, affiliated company of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH
This certain feeling of happiness in the morning, triggered by the smell of kerosene in the morning air and the sound of the first starting engine, has been familiar to me my whole life. But only through my dual studies at the Frankfurt University/Flughafen Hamburg GmbH I now can contribute myself to this extremely fascinating system 'aviation'.
The conveyance of theoretical knowledge at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and the respective application during the practical phases at the cooperating companies creates a very diversified and exciting degree course. Next to lectures held by competent lecturers of the institution of higher education and experts from the aviation companies, numerous excursions (e.g. to Airbus Toulouse, Lufthansa and different airports) provide extensive insight into the topic aviation. During the practical phase in companies, which I completed at the Flughafen Hamburg GmbH, one is immersed into the facets of the aviation sector and one can compare the theory from lectures with reality. This close connection between studies and work life make it particularly attractive.
