Information on Planned Exchange Semesters

Dear Students,

Due to the globally spreading Corona Pandemic, the exchange activities of Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences have been significantly restricted. .

For the Spring Term 2021

you can only start your semester abroad if the host country is not listed as a country with high risk according to the German Foreign Office. In this case we strongly advise not to go abroad and the semester will not be funded.

Should the host country not be listed as a country with high risk and the German Foreign Office only advises not to go there you could go and the stay can be funded.

As stated in the obligatory safety briefings, the university will discontinue its exchange activities or invite all university members to return as soon as the German Foreign Office issues a travel warning for the respective countries or regions.

What can you do if a travel warning is issued for your destination?

  •     Cancellation of mobility

You have not yet left the country and are now withdrawing from your planned semester abroad.

Travel and accommodation costs that are necessarily related to mobility can be reimbursed via the first installment of your stipend. In this case, you must prove that you have applied for reimbursement from the travel provider, insurance or other sources and that this application has been rejected (only for Erasmus + funding)

  •     Switching to a so-called "Blended Mobility

If possible, virtual mobility in the sense of a "blended mobility" approach should be encouraged: A virtual mobility phase at a host institution abroad is followed by physical mobility.

You will not receive any financial support during the virtual phase of mobility at home. Once the physical mobility phase begins, you will receive the regular grant for the stay abroad as defined in the Grant Agreement for the period of stay abroad. With the Promos Grant it is not known yet whether virtual mobility might be funded or not.

  •     Termination of mobility

You are already abroad and are responding to our call to return.

In any case, you will keep the mobility grant for your presence abroad.
