Information for prospective students of Geomatics and Public Works (M.Eng.)

The master's degree course Geomatics and Public Works includes the specialized disciplines geomatics and public works relating to municipal properties (properties and buildings).

After the completion of the studies, graduates will be able to hold leading positions in companies and authorities responsibly and significantly contribute to all technical questions regarding the property.

Two additional preparatory sessions will take place outside the institution of higher education for students of this degree course next to the general orientation sessions for first year students, so that a successful and fast entry into your course of study can be facilitated. You will get to know your fellow students in their first year of studies as an interdisciplinary team and introduce your (professional) competencies.

You will get to know the tools of room management at the interfaces of space management, property management and geo data management. You will consider subject-related theories and develop adequate solutions with help of appropriate measuring or IT systems. This way you will be able to analyze, critically reflect on and manage portfolios and change processes of land and real estate.

Course catalogue

Modularization during the studies is a study structure, in which courses such as lectures, exercises, practical internships, excursions or seminars about certain topics are combined in modules. The structure of a module is determined by the competence, which is to be achieved upon completion of the module.

The module handbook entails information about the duration, credits, type of examination, admission requirements, learning results, workload, learning type, content, literature, module coordinator of modules of the degree course. Further information can be found in the guidelines on modularization and awarding of credit points by the Bund-Länder-Commission and can be downloaded in form of a PDF document.

Admission requirements

Applications (with foreign credentials) need to be submitted by January 15, for the summer semester, and by July 15, for the winter semester.

Admission is limited.

You require a degree in one of the following degree programs:

  • Geomatics and public works,
  • civil engineering, facility management, geodesy, geography, geomatics, environmental engineering,
  • or similar degree programs.

The previous degree course must have had a regular period of study of 6 semesters or 180 ECTS credits. The grade point average of the former degree must have been 2.8 or better.

Please submit the following documents:

  • Certificate for the required degree with average grade,
  • a letter of motivation of one or two page length, which describes your motivation for applying for the chosen degree course and profession.
  • CV.

During the international semester you can further enhance your acquired knowledge at one of our partner universities or in one of the two English study projects offered at the Frankfurt UAS.

With the academic degree "Master of Engineering" you will be able to undergo doctoral studies and work in the higher civil service sector. The bachelor's degree courses in geomatics and public works (B.Eng.) or in geodesia and geoinformation are mandatory in order to be admitted to the clerkship in Hesse.
