Do you have questions about the focus doctorate?

Below you will find answers* to frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions, we will be happy to advise you personally.

In order to be able to take up an UAS professorship as a young scientist, the following requirements must be met:

  • Doctorate
  • At least 5 years of work experience (three of them outside of the university)
  • First teaching experience

With the new qualification and collaborative programs, qualified specialists are prepared for a career at a university of applied sciences.

There are four types of qualification and collaborative programs at the Frankfurt UAS:

  • Collaborative doctoral program
  • Collaborative postdoc program
  • Focus doctoral program
  • Cooperative professorships

Highly qualified specialists with at least three years of professional experience who are aiming for an UAS professorship can write their doctoral thesis at our university within 2.5 years. In addition, 4 SWS teaching hours are scheduled.

The target group for this program already has a scientific university degree and at least three years of non-university professional experience. The focus doctorate is an opportunity for you to acquire missing scientific evidence, such as a doctorate and teaching experience, and thus qualify for a future UAS professorship.

The focus docotral program takes 2,5 years.

The payment is up to pay group 13 TV-Hessen.

Unfortunately, this is not possible within the framework of PROFfm. Due to the fact that the program is initially limited to 2027, no change can currently be offered.
