Workshop | Citing Sources and Formatting Academic Work Using APA Style

Some of the most important aspects of academic writing are the avoidance of plagiarism, providing sources to acknowledge other researchers’ work, situating oneself in the extended academic context, and establishing credibility. By consistently and accurately citing sources, many of these aspects can be successfully addressed, leading to improved academic writing!

In this workshop, we will focus on APA, which is one of the most common and widely-used academic citation formats across various disciplines and countries. We will use sample student papers to recognize key features of APA style, and you will create an APA-formatted document with in-text citations and a reference list.

Topics:

  • APA format and its disciplines
  • The role and significance of academic citations
  • Fundamentals of APA style
  • Correctly citing the most common academic sources in APA
  • The most useful resources and references for working with APA

This workshop is offered in English and will take place in the library, room 413.
