Training description
This training consists of two parts and is held in English. The German Resume Rockstar is geared towards international students studying in Germany who plan to apply for employment opportunities in Germany. Students will be introduced to the application process in Germany and particularities with applying for work in English in Germany. The bulk of the workshop is centered on equipping students with the knowledge necessary for drafting a resume that speaks to German employers.
This training will cover:
- Setting expectations when applying in English and best practices
- Modern application standards and working with templates
- What a master resume is and how to use one
- Section organization and prioritization, plus a walkthrough of the most important content to include
- Application strategy of applying in English, plus common mistakes of internationals
- A crash course in Lücken (gaps in professional history)
- How to leverage initiative applications as an international student
- Applications behind the scenes: what are hiring mangers looking for?
- Answers to your questions!
What students will accomplish
By the end of this workshop, students will understand what should be included in a resume in Germany and how to write one that is an accurate reflection of their experiences, abilities, and goals. They will learn how to adopt a method for creating unique resumes that speeds up the application process, and strategies for applying in English in Germany. Last, they will be provided with information about important next steps after they’ve completed their resume.
The trainer:
Jessica Schüller, American, but living in Germany, calls herself a „Germany-obsessed career coach, trainer, & international educator“. After building an international career service department at a German university, she mainly focussed on international students and young professionals interested in interning or working in Germany. Through intense coaching and training, she prepares them to present themselves confidently to German employers. Her teaching approach emboldens students to manage their careers, become lifelong learners, and take responsibility for their professional trajectories.
