Job Shadowing

U!REKA Week 2025 at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences – Get to know your U!REKA colleagues, expand your international networks, share insights and exchange ideas. 

Job shadowing is an experiential learning opportunity that allows staff members to observe colleagues at another U!REKA institution in their daily work environment. During the U!REKA Week from November 24–28, 2025, colleagues from different administrative departments of Frankfurt UAS kindly invite their peers to visit them, in order to 

  • explore innovative practices, 

  • learn new skills and methods, 

  • foster inter-university cooperation and 

  • build international networks.  

FUNDING: Job shadowing mobility can be funded primarily through Erasmus+, but national or institutional programs may also be available, depending on your home university. In order to receive financial support for your visit to Frankfurt, please check Erasmus+/ alternative funding by contacting the office(s) in charge at your home institution.

The Sustainability Office coordinates the development and implementation of sustainability goals, including climate change adaptation, carbon neutrality, and fair-trade initiatives. We monitor relevant trends, support reporting tasks, and facilitate networking within and beyond the university. Cooperation with various departments and stakeholders is essential to integrate sustainability into all areas of university life and operations. Staff participate in the evaluation, initiation and coordination of sustainable measures for the campus.

The Gender Recruiting team is part of the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Office and works to increase the presence of women in engineering, IT, business, law, and architecture-related disciplines. It supports diversity-sensitive recruitment processes for academic staff and professors and organises mentoring and outreach activities for women in STEM fields. The office also connects with networks and advises on school and university initiatives to attract female students to STEM subjects.

The Diversity Policies – Antidiscrimination – Measures against Antisemitism team is part of the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Office. The team designs university-wide diversity policies and audits, sets diversity goals, and fosters inclusion at all levels. It implements measures to prevent discrimination and antisemitism, develops empowerment and awareness concepts, and provides advice to staff and students on diversity issues. Collaboration with local, regional, and international networks, including U!REKA, is part of ongoing work.

The advice center for students with disabilities, impairments, chronic somatic and/or mental illnesses is part of the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Office. They support students with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or mental health conditions by offering individual consultations and developing tailored support programs. The team handles applications for compensation for disadvantages, advises on study organization, and raises awareness among teachers and staff. The center aims for accessible and inclusive study conditions across the university.

The International Office develops and manages internationalisation strategies, oversees student exchange programmes, and coordinates support services for incoming and outgoing students. Key tasks include mobility coordination (Erasmus+, short-term programmes), housing support, and compliance issues, as well as cooperation within the U!REKA alliance. Staff may also participate in meetings with university leadership to observe decision-making in international matters.

The Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) centralizes services related to student and faculty support, including the university library, the language center, and programs for study skills and digital teaching. Activities range from learning support and self-study spaces to faculty development and digital learning initiatives. The center also develops workshops, training sessions, and manages key educational technologies such as Moodle.

The TLC includes the university’s library, the specialized Language Center, the Student Learning Support Center as well as the Digital Teaching and Learning Center (DigiTaL).

The Department for University Strategy and Governance provides strategic and operational support to the university’s management bodies and committees, including the Presidential Board. Tasks involve drafting development plans, preparing target agreements, and managing university-wide projects. The team is responsible for the organization of board meetings, political communication, compliance reporting, and election processes for university governance.

The Department for Student Support and Services (StuPort) comprehensively supports students from application and admission through study administration and completion. The department offers information and guidance on academic processes and personal matters, including psychosocial counselling and career services. Staff manage central student records and coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient student experience.

The Quality Management in Teaching and Studying unit is responsible for developing and implementing quality management procedures within teaching and learning at all faculties. Main tasks include organising course evaluations, reporting on education quality, and supporting governance structures in continuous improvement. The office provides analysis and documentation to inform leadership decisions.

The Department for Marketing and Communications manages the university’s internal and external communications, including public relations, marketing, website, and social media. It also supports event planning, develops and maintains the university’s corporate design, and implements measures to enhance university visibility. Partner engagement and internal communication strategies are also core activities.

The Secretary to the Dean handles administrative tasks and processes for the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. Duties include coordinating appointments, preparing meeting documentation, and managing daily schedules. The role also involves communication with other university bodies and support for faculty-level international cooperation.

The administrative backbone of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics encompasses a range of essential functions, including study program coordination, secretariat services, Dean's Office operations, and support for research groups. This team ensures the smooth functioning of daily administrative processes, facilitating communication and cooperation across various units within the faculty. Their dedicated efforts contribute significantly to providing a seamless academic experience for students and supporting the faculty’s research activities.
