Dr. Janet Ananias

University of Namibia (UNAM) - Namibia

IW Topic(s): Anti-oppressive social work practices: A Namibian perspective

Areas of Focus: Social gerontology, intergenerational care, mental health, child neglect, children in foster care, and refugees.

Janet Ananias is teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate social work program at the University of Namibia. She holds a PhD in Social Work from the North West University, Potchefstroom campus, South Africa.

Dr. Nicole Brown

IW Topic: Creative methods for data collection and analysis in qualitative research

Areas of Focus: Research methods & process, ethics, creative methods, embodied inquiry, participatory research

 

Nicole Brown is an Austrian and British writer and academic whose expertise lies with social research practice. She focuses on the development and pragmatics of research methods and approaches for data analysis as well as dissemination. Brown researches physical and material representations of experiences, the generation of knowledge and use of metaphors to express what is difficult to express, and more generally, research methods and approaches to explore identity and body work.

Dr. Mayada Daibes

German Jordanian University (GJU) - Jordan

IW Topic: Culturally sensitive nursing programs: Contribution of German Jordanian University

Areas of focus: Qualitative research in nursing, palliative care nursing, gender studies, clinical power relations, vulnerable populations

 

Dr. Mayada Daibes is an Assistant Professor in Nursing, currently working as Dean of School of Nursing at German Jordanian University (GJU), teaching in multiple courses including Geriatric Health Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Community Health Nursing, etc. She is involved in many research projects.

Dr. Anja Human-Hendricks

University of the Western Cape – South Africa

IW Topic: Raising socially and emotionally strong children (Focus on understanding parenting practices and its effects on children)

Areas of Focus: Child and youth wellbeing, assessments and intervention strategies, child protection, parenting, and family wellbeing

Dr. Anja Human-Hendricks, fortified by a substantial foundation in social work, contributes over a decade of pedagogical experience, predominantly in the domain of child and youth care, practical education, and research. Her proficiency extends across multiple levels of practice, with a particular emphasis on assessment methodologies and intervention strategies. Her specialization is deeply rooted in childcare, child protection, and the welfare of children and youth, as well as parenting and family wellbeing. These areas constitute the nucleus of her pedagogical pursuits, research undertakings, and community engagement initiatives. Driven by a profound commitment to enrich the lives of children and families, her work aims to make a significant contribution to the field of social work through impactful research and education.

Prof. Orit Nuttman-Shwartz

Sapir College – Israel

IW Topic: Shared Continuous Traumatic Situations and Resiliency

Areas of Focus: Trauma & resilience; shared reality; loss & bereavement

Orit Nuttman-Shwartz, MSW, PhD, is a group analyst (GA), and full professor. She is the founder and first head of the School of Social Work at Sapir College in Israel. Her research focuses on personal and social trauma, resilience and bereavement, and on international social work.
