Profile of the institute

The IaW is the Institute for Applied Economics e.V. in Faculty 3: Business and Law of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

The purpose of the IaW is to perform independent application-oriented economic research and teaching in collaboration with the Business and Law faculty of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

The IaW supports the collaboration between Faculty 3: Business and Law of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and cooperating businesses and institutions with the creation, implementation, and development of application-oriented economics and law programs.

The IaW maintains relationships with former students and their employers to Faculty 3: Business and Law through events for training and continuing education and promotes a close connection of the faculty to other scientific institutions, enterprises, and public institutions in the area of applied economics. In order to maintain their contacts in the above areas, the IaW also holds events at the scientific and application-oriented level.

Continuing education

The statutory responsibilities of the IaW include the implementation of training and continuing education projects. Until now, individual continuing education measures and the MBA programs were supported. The IaW thus supports Faculty 3: Business and Law with its tasks of professional and continuing education and training.

Publications

The IaW has been promoting the outstanding thesis papers of graduates of Faculty 3: Business and Law since 2002 by publishing them in the "Economics and Law papers” series.

Events

The IaW organizes several lecture series in irregular intervals on the application-oriented research being conducted at Faculty 3: Business and Law.

Promotion of the dual program

The IaW facilitates the creation, implementation, and development of dual Bachelor programs of Faculty 3: Business and Law at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. Dual programs are characterized by having a high share of the program phases being completed in businesses. The program thus rests on the close collaboration of cooperation businesses and institutions with the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. This is done, for example, by including assistants from the practical world, generally from partner businesses.

About the IaW

The Institute for Applied Economics e.V. was founded on May 25, 1988 by professors of the former faculties of Economy of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences to promote and develop the faculty’s contacts in the professional world. It is a registered association with headquarters in Frankfurt.

In addition to promoting application-oriented research and teaching, continuing education, and the implementation of events, the IaW has accepted the responsibility of promoting the dual Bachelor programs of the Business and Law faculty since 2006.

The Institute accepts regular and supporting members. Professors of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences may obtain regular membership. Natural persons and legal entities may acquire the supporting membership if they want to support the application-oriented economic research and teaching at Faculty 3: Business and Law of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
