Advice for the job interview

You should prepare well for the job interview. We have collected a few ideas and tips on how to successfully present yourself to your new employer.

You will also find a few suggestions and a video on how to prepare for the job interview on this trainer's website.

  • Practise introducing yourself briefly. You will be asked to present yourself and get the chance to make a good first impression right away. Do not just repeat the stages already mentioned in your CV but think about your personal common thread based on the job advertised. What has been the driving force in your life? What professional interests and skills have enabled you to advance?
  • Inform yourself thoroughly about the Company! For example, study the website, the latest social media posts and follow the media reports. You should also already know a little about the products and current trends. Which topics or issues are currently relevant for the industry?
  • Think of yourself in the role of the recruiter: imagine potential questions and put together your possible answers. This is especially helpful for difficult questions, such as about strengths and weaknesses. Often behavioural questions are asked, or short role-playing games or case studies are conducted to observe how you cope with stress, challenges, or defeats.
  • Stay positiv und authentic during the interview and answer the questions honestly. Show genuine interest: why are you really interested in the job? How could you use your strengths? True motivation and enthusiasm not only arouse mutual interest, but it also transfers to the interviewer.
  • For online interviews, test the technique and your camera before. Pay attention to your posture (slightly bent forward instead of leaning back too comfortably) and always remain friendly.
  • In Germany, it is common that the applicant is also allowed to ask questions at the end By going into detail here, you can show that you are seriously interested in the topic and the job.
