Application for a higher semester
You can apply for a higher semester if you are studying or studied in the past on a degree program with the same name or comparable content. Based on your previous achievements, we will check whether you can be placed in a higher semester.
Application for a higher semester
An application for a higher semester for the winter semester 2025/26 is expected to be possible from the beginning of June 2025.
Degree programs with restricted admission
On degree courses with restricted admission, only a certain number of study places are available. First of all, we must enable all students who are already enrolled to continue their studies. After that study places that become available are assigned to applicants who have applied for a higher semester.
Only after the end of the re-registration period it can be known whether there are places available in the semester in question. If you have applied for admission to a higher semester, it usually takes until the beginning of April for the summer semester or the beginning of October for the winter semester before you receive an acceptance or rejection letter. You only have a short time until the start of lectures then. Check the status of your application regularly so that you do not miss your enrollment deadline if you are admitted.
By the way: You can find the current "Ordinance on the determination of admission figures at universities in the state of Hessen" on the website of Bürgerservice Hessenrecht. Enter “Verordnung über die Festsetzung von Zulassungszahlen an den Hochschulen des Landes Hessen” in the search field.

Yes, you can still apply. However, if you have lost your right to take examinations at your previous university, this may mean that you are no longer entitled to take examinations at Frankfurt UAS.
Please submit a complete application and upload all proof of loss of the right of examinations at your previous university. You will then receive feedback as to whether you have also lost the right to take examinations at Frankfurt UAS. If this is the case, your application must be excluded from the admission procedure. If you are still entitled to take examinations at Frankfurt UAS, your application will be considered in the admission procedure.
What determines whether I have also lost the right to take exams at Frankfurt UAS?
You have also lost your right to take examinations at Frankfurt UAS if the module you have definitively failed is identical or comparable in content to a module that is compulsory in your chosen degree program. Information on the modules in your chosen degree program can be found in the module handbooks.

A university entrance qualification valid for Hessen
Your university entrance qualification is the certificate that entitles you to study at a university (e.g. German Abitur or Fachhochschulreife). If you are unsure whether your certificate is recognized in Hessen, you can send it in advance as a PDF file to the student services center Studienbüro
Proof of your previous studies
Your academic history includes all universities at which you have studied. You must provide evidence of your study history in the form of official certificates from these universities (e.g. certificate of exmatriculation and/or certificate of study progress). You must provide complete proof of your entire period of study (university and subject-related semesters). It does not matter whether you have academic achievements in the relevant degree program.
Complete and up-to-date performance records
A complete transcript of records contains all examinations that you have taken or registered for in your previous studies. You will need an official certificate from each university at which you were enrolled, showing all passed, failed and registered examinations. If you have not taken any examinations at a university, you must still upload a certificate proving this.
Do I need a certificate of exmatriculation from my previous university?
You do not need a certificate of exmatriculation when applying. However, if you have been admitted to Frankfurt UAS and are already studying in a degree program of the same name at another university, you will need a certificate of exmatriculation from that university in order to be enrolled at Frankfurt UAS. We generally recommend that you only apply for exmatriculation at your former university once you have been admitted to Frankfurt UAS.
If you are or were already enrolled in a degree program of the same name, you will be placed in the next semester, provided your application was received on time and in the correct form. All admission requirements for the desired degree program must be met.
If you change your subject to a related degree program, the application documents submitted must be checked individually to determine whether you can be placed in a higher semester. You will be informed via the FranCa portal in which semester you have been placed.
If you have completed credits at another university or in another degree program, you can apply for recognition after you have enrolled. Find out how to apply for recognition from your department's examination office.
Unfortunately, Frankfurt UAS is unable to provide an assessment in advance of which modules will be recognized. However, you can use the module handbooks to find out for yourself which of your modules are similar or identical to modules in your desired degree program.
Important: Enrollment in a higher semester does not automatically mean that your achievements will be recognized. You must apply for recognition separately after enrollment.
