Short-term Programs/Summer Schools: the sensible alternative to a vacation

Many universities offer courses for external students during the lecture-free period - usually in the summer. The denomination for these courses is "Summer Schools". Summer Schools are particularly widespread in Anglo-American countries, but the number of courses on offer is now also increasing in non-English-speaking countries within and outside Europe. Occasionally, courses are also offered under the term "Winter Schools".

In addition to a semester or internship abroad, summer schools are an excellent opportunity to gain (further) experience abroad and improve your English language skills!

Facts about  Summer Schools

  • Course language: usually English
  • Courses: from the beginning of June to the end of August
  • Course duration: varies, but generally no longer than four weeks
  • Costs for course fees: can vary from "very expensive" to "low costs" to "free of charge"
  • Top! Course recognition is also possible, provided that the scope (ECTS credits) and content are equivalent to a module from the local degree program and the head of degree program agrees in advance

Application: Applications must be sent exclusively to the selected summer school. There is no parallel procedure at Frankfurt UAS.
