Studying abroad

Good to know:

Frankfurt UAS has been participating in the Erasmus+ program for many years and thus offers you the opportunity to study within a vast European university, e.g. by studying abroad. Erasmus+ is a program for education, youth and sport of the European Union with the aim of promoting the mobility of learners and supporting them in acquiring employment-relevant and intercultural skills. As part of the program, you can currently study at partner universities in 31 different European countries.

The advantages of the Erasmus+ program include:

  • No tuition fees at the partner university
  • Academic recognition of academic achievements acquired abroad at Frankfurt UAS
  • Financial support with the Erasmus+ mobility grant. You do not have to pay this back as long as you comply with all of the requirements specified bythe Erasmus+ program.
  • Standardized application process

Application deadlines:

  • January 15 for the winter semester and/or summer semester of the following year.
  • June 30 for the summer semester of the following year.
  • The application must be uploaded to the "Mobility Online" application portal - with the applicant's signature - by the specified dates.

Please note: We recommend that you plan your studies abroad for a winter semester, as our semester times then do not overlap with those of our European partner universities - as is unfortunately usually the case in summer semesters.

    1. Choice of one to three suitable universities

The application portal Mobility Online will tell you which partner universities in Europe are suitable for your degree program. You can also find out more under Overview of partner universities.

    2. Compatibility check of the partner universities with your degree program

    Check

    • the courses/modules of the partner universities you are interested in with those of your degree program for accuracy of fit, so that examination credits could also be credited at Frankfurt UAS. Please also bear in mind that you must pass courses with at least 12 ECTS credits at the foreign university in order to receive Erasmus + funding.

The preparation and agreement of the Learning Agreement is your responsibility as a student. Please coordinate the Learning Agreement with the international coordinators and the head of degree program as soon as you have been assigned to a partner university. Please make an appointment and send a proposal in advance as to which courses abroad you would like to have credited for which courses here (preferably supplemented with links to the pages of the university on which the courses are described). Counseling:

As a so-called "free mover", you can apply specifically to the university of your choice, even if Frankfurt UAS does nothave an exchange agreement with it. .

    Good to know:

    • A free mover stay requires a very high degree of initiative because you have to organize your studies at the university abroad completely on your own.
    • Free movers usually have to pay very high tuition fees abroad.
    • Tip: We recommend that you start organizing well over a year in advance.
    • Self-organized study abroad does not affect the regulations for the recognition of credits. Recognition is always possible if the achievements are comparable and have been agreed in advance via a Learning Agreement.

You can find out how best to proceed as a free mover and which agencies are available for advice here!
