Do you have questions about the collaborative postdoc?

Below you will find answers* to frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions, we will be happy to advise you personally.

In order to be able to take up a HAW professorship as a young scientist, the following requirements must be met:

  • Doctorate
  • At least 5 years of work experience (three of them outside of the university)
  •  First teaching experience

With the new qualification and collaborative programs, qualified specialists are prepared for a career at a university of applied sciences.

There are three types of qualification and collaborative programs at the Frankfurt UAS:

  • Collaborative doctoral program
  • Collaborative postdoc program
  • Cooperative professorships

The collaborative postdoc at the Frankfurt UAS enables prospective professors to work and research on future-related issues in a company and at the university, each split 50 percent, and to gain initial teaching experience (4 semester hours). Participation in didactic training courses is also planned.

* The program does not replace the habilitation process and does not automatically lead to habilitation.

With the collaborative postdoc program, we would like to address specialists who have already completed their doctorate and who still lack the necessary non-university professional experience and/or teaching experience for a UAS professorship.

The research achievements as well as possible publications are to be coordinated with the faculties.

Potential practice partners should meet the following criteria:

  • Activity in the field of the research topic
  • Waiver of 50 percent of work performance in the company for at least three years to enable employees to research current topics.

Potential practice partners should meet the following criteria:

  • 50 percent exemption of the employee
  • Financing practical parts (50 percent)
  • Responsibility for the employee’s practical phases
  • Supporting the employee in achieving the research goal

With the completion of the collaborative postdoc, you have acquired the necessary qualifications to apply for a UAS professorship at the Frankfurt UAS. In contrast to the application modalities at universities, it is possible to apply within the institution.

The documents to be submitted include:

  • CV
  • Project Profile
  • Motivation letter
  • Reference letters
  • Information on your previous research and teaching activities (if available)
  • Professorial confirmation of supervision
  • Confirmation of a practice partner (if available)

* All information is provided without warranty.
