How are the scholarship holders selected?

A selection committee consisting of representatives of the International Office and the Language Center decides on the awarding of monthly scholarship rates in a quality-based and performance-related selection procedure.

Which criteria are considered in the selection?

  • Conclusive statement of motivation
  • Academic achievements
  • linguistic proficiency
  • Personal aptitude / commitment
  • Intercultural preparation (intercultural training, participation in the buddy program, etc.)

Applicants will be notified of the outcome in writing.

If the scholarship is granted, the declaration of acceptance must be submitted by the specified deadline. With the declaration of acceptance, you are obliged to submit all documents required for the payment of the scholarship unsolicited, formally, and on time, in the International Office. In addition, you are obliged to pay back the scholarship in whole or in part if you cancel your stay abroad prematurely or do not comply with the stated regulations.

Please also note that the scholarship can only be paid for the period actually used for study / internship or thesis.

Please inform us of any change to the exact dates without delay. Should your stay be e.g. shortened, amounts overpaid must be repaid.

A PROMOS grant must be submitted to the International BAföG office.

After completing your stay abroad, please immediately send us the "Confirmation of Study / Internship abroad" and submit your report as well as the copy of your certificate (Transcript of Records, internship certificate) as soon as possible.

The Fachsprachenzentrum (Language center) offers new dates for taking a language test:

Students who need the DAAD language proficiency certificate in English for study or internship abroad and have not attended a language course at the same university within the last two years must take a separate Oxford Placement Test.

Further information can be found on the website of the Fachsprachenzentrum.
