Sustainable Migrations: Women on the move

The issues of displacement and migration caused by socio-economic factors, climate change, societal conflicts, and war are visible and to be experienced in many countries of the Islamic world – understood as those countries who are organised in the OIC – and have a lasting impact on these societies in general. This project wants to focus in which ways the living and working conditions of women who are subject to displacement and migration are affected in OIC countries and Germany. A project that focuses “sustainable migration” refers to different categories of the UN SDGs like – among others – SDG 5 promoting gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls and SDG 11 addressing sustainable cities and communities, which should lead to cities and human settlements that are inclusive, safe, and resilient, but also SDG 3 that underlines good health and well-being as well as SDG 4 that focuses inclusive and equitable quality education. Based on the realisation that displacement and migration is a topic that most of the countries are dealing with and is an issue for NGOs, States and University stakeholders alike, this project follows up on that to focus on how sustainable migration is or could be achieved for women on the move within or from countries of the Islamic world. This project seeks to produce modular outcomes by developing an online module that would be available for universities and NGOs and can serve as a tool towardscdeveloping competencies for working with Muslim women (including Train the Trainer possibilities, intercultural workshops, development of cultural competency skills for students). The outcome and parts of the process will also be presented at the project homepage. One of the tasks will also be the finalization of a book or a paper based on the process and outcome of the project.

Zielsetzung des Projekts

Hervorhebung der Vielfalt der Kontexte muslimischer Frauen und der Bedeutung ihrer Stimme und Repräsentation durch die Schaffung eines umfassenden Lehrinhalts zu diesem Thema, der international und intersektional ist und mehrere Perspektiven berücksichtigt,
Ermöglichung eines differenzierten Verständnisses und Dialogs über die Kontexte muslimischer Frauen in den vier berücksichtigten Ländern durch zwei geplante Sommerschulen, in denen das Lehrmaterial und die Lehrmethoden erprobt werden,
Ermöglichung der Entwicklung von Fähigkeiten und Kompetenzen, z. B. kultureller Kompetenz, durch Austausch, Dialog und gemeinsame Nutzung bewährter Verfahren zwischen Akademiker: innen, Student: innen, Forscher: innen und Frauenorganisationen,
Entwicklung nachhaltiger regionaler Lehr- und Forschungsnetzwerke zwischen den Partnerländern, z. B. mit nichtakademischen Akteuren,
Entwicklung von Online-Ressourcen und pädagogischer Austausch zwischen den Akteuren.

Angestrebte Ergebnisse

Entwicklung eines Konzepts bezogen auf zentrale Inhalte (einschließlich digitaler Inhalte) zu Frauenthemen unter Einbeziehung von Beiträgen der Organisation,
Internationales gemeinsames Arbeiten und Lehren in Modulen sowie in den Sommerschulen, die auch zeitgemäße Lehrmethoden wie Online-Pädagogik und internationales gemeinsames Lehren und Austauschen fördern,
Entwicklung von interkultureller Kompetenz für das beteiligte Personal, die Studierenden und die Organisationen
Ausbau von polyzentrischen Netzwerken und Aufbau neuer Partnerschaften zwischen Hochschulen und außeruniversitären Organisationen. Die Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences hat mit allen Partnerhochschulen zusammengearbeitet, die Partnerhochschulen kennen sich jedoch untereinander noch nicht.
