International Business Administration (B.A.)

As a graduate of this bachelor's degree course you are adequately prepared for managerial tasks in internationally operating and acting companies, industrial corporations, banks, service companies and public institutions. The focus is on international aspects with respect to content, language competence and transcultural experience. Next to the training in core subjects of business administration and economics and law, we also offer insight into the political, legal and economic framework conditions of the international environment during the course of studies.

First year students

Part of this degree course are additional courses which lead to key qualifications such as communication behavior and handling cultural differences. The degree course includes an obligatory international year during which the lectures are held in English only. This international year takes place in a multinational environment: either at an institution of higher education abroad or in Frankfurt with fellow international students. Furthermore, we recommend to complete a practical module abroad.

The international degree course is designed to last seven semesters. The structure of the degree course is flexible and offers you different possibilities of participation: From 'internationalization at home' at your own institution of higher education or up to three semesters abroad with the option of attaining a double degree if a respective agreement exists with the partner university. If the participation in the double program was successful, you will be granted the degree at the partner university after having been awarded with the bachelor's degree at the Frankfurt UAS.

There are no limits to your specialization plans in line with your interests and skills beyond a comprehensive basic education. The Frankfurt UAS offers you versatile options of specializations, attractive obligatory modules and current topics, which will enhance your foresight during the module interdisciplinary studies 'Interdisziplinäres Studium Generale'.

The curriculum includes the following:

During the first three semesters students learn the fundamentals and principles in disciplines relevant to business administration. This also includes the necessary economic, fiscal knowledge, basics in economics, as well as training in methodical subjects and in a business language.

The lectures and courses during the second year, semesters 3 and 4, are taught in English. The courses in semester 4 are dedicated to international subjects; therefore, they are exclusively designed for the international program.

During the 6th and 7th semester you can choose certain areas of specialization in line with your interests and skills:

  • Financing
  • Marketing
  • Organization and human resource management
  • Production management and logistics
  • Corporate taxation
  • Auditing
  • Controlling

During the specialized curriculum you will choose three additional elective modules oriented in the operational practice, which include the following topics: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Process Management (BPM), economic outlook/management trends, economic law, Internet applications, business organization, analysis of operational data bases, entrepreneurship, international management, foreign technical language I/II and Interdisciplinary studies (Interdisziplinäres Studium Generale; German only).

Accreditation and Completion

  • The International Business Administration degree program is worth 210 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits and has been certified by FIBAA.
  • Upon the successful completion of your studies you will receive the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).

Admission requirements

The deadline for the receipt of the admission application ends on January 15, for the summer semester and on July 15, for the winter semester.

You must submit an informal, separate application if you would like your application to be considered for the random selection procedure. The application period begins two weeks prior to start of the lectures of the respective semester and ends on the day of the start of lectures of the respective semester.

The degree course is admission restricted. The study spot placement takes place via a local NC procedures.

Sufficient English language skills are to be demonstrated. These can be demonstrated by having passed the IELTS with at least 6.0 or the TOEFL test with at least 87 points (internet based) or at least satisfactory accomplishments in a higher level English course in the higher education entrance qualification or other language certificates, which proof a level of at least B2 in accordance with the recommended guidelines of the common European reference frame for languages. These proofs are not necessary, if you attained your higher education entrance qualification in English-language regions or if one year was successfully completed at an English-speaking school, university or another institution. The lectures of the 3rd and 4th semester are held in English. A double degree is possible, if 3 semesters are studied abroad.
