Description of the study program

Hand on heart, who isn't fascinated by the big, wide world of flying? "Ready for departure" is the motto in the Rhine-Main metropolis, not only at one of the largest airports in the world, but also a few kilometers away for you at Frankfurt UAS, if you are aiming for a professional degree in aviation. With this dual course of study, we offer you - in cooperation with major German airport operators, airlines, German Air Traffic Control (DFS) and other companies from the aviation industry - to help shape a highly dynamic market. The aim is to get customers and goods to their destinations quickly, safely and as comfortably as possible. Behind this very simplified description lies a highly complex system that requires smooth cooperation between airports, airlines and air traffic control companies. Moreover, the air transport industry is a growth engine with constant changes: It requires innovative strategies at all levels of the value chain and from the players involved - more than ever since the start of the pandemic and in view of climate change.

Career prospects

This degree program is aimed at students with a strong affinity to the aviation industry who are interested in starting a career in one of the cooperating companies. The dual study program qualifies you for a wide range of management tasks with major German airport operators, airlines, German air traffic control and other companies in the aviation industry.

Study structure

The dual program is designed for six semesters. The theoretical and practical phases take place alternately (usually every 12 weeks) at Frankfurt UAS and in the cooperating company. You will complete a qualified management training with study modules specifically geared to the aviation industry. Six operational study sections, realistic case studies and problem-oriented project work promote interdisciplinary, networked thinking and enable you to implement theoretical knowledge in operational practice. Language training and interdisciplinary modules strengthen social skills and intercultural understanding. You will benefit from the practical experience gained during the in-company study phases and the opportunity to establish far-reaching contacts within the company and beyond. You will also receive a training allowance from the cooperating company for the entire duration of your studies!

Logos Kooperierende Unternehmen

The dual program in Aviation Management (B.A.) combines the transfer of theoretical knowledge and skills at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (13 weeks) with application and consolidation within the framework of operational study sections (13 weeks) at one of the cooperating companies from the aviation industry. The significance of the dual profile lies in the combination of university studies and professional practice, which enables you to integrate your university studies with your professional qualification. The integration aims to give efficiency-enhancing impetus to both your studies and your professional work. The in-company study sections give you the opportunity to test, observe and discuss the acquired knowledge, skills and methods in your in-company activities and, beyond that, in higher-level decision-making situations. Experience from professional practice is ensured through case study work and applied project work in the modules on aviation economics, among others.

Our task is to ensure that the competencies required in practice are defined together with the companies, constantly put to the test and permanently developed further.
