The study program

Would you like to analyze data in agile projects and understand the business implications of decisions? As a business information systems specialist, business administrator, or computer scientist, you are already well-versed in the challenges of business processes and may already be working in a company to optimize information and communication systems? Then the content of this Master’s program is exactly right for you! By the end of this program, you’ll be hard to beat when it comes to planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring—in other words, leading—complex IT projects to achieve strategic business goals. You’ll be able to assess the scope a suitable IT strategy has on business success and the contribution it makes to a company’s strategic development. And you will learn why “Digital Business Management” requires a holistic and integrative approach and is much more than just securing competitive advantages. The collection and analysis of data, as well as efficient business processes, are the backbone of successful companies. Today, managing a company is no longer conceivable without accurate and timely information and the use of the internet, as well as innovative methods and IT tools.

Career prospects

The Digital Business Management program qualifies you for a wide range of leadership and management roles. Potential areas of employment and work will be at the interface between functional and IT departments, e.g., as a data scientist, assistant to top decision-makers, or in business development, marketing, or controlling. Graduates can also find employment in the broad field of IT and management consulting or in the financial services sector.

Study structure

The program is designed to last three semesters and is divided into the following subject areas: 1) Information Management with a focus on Business Analytics and Data Management, 2) Digitalization, Strategy, and Risk Management, 3) Organization and Leadership. The requirements for the effective and efficient use of IT resources in a company are complex and demanding. Not least because many business processes are handled partially or entirely via the internet and the associated IT systems. Companies are increasingly becoming “data-driven businesses,” where information is collected automatically and forms the basis for decisions. The individual modules thoroughly prepare you for this. The following software and apps are used, among others: Python, SQL, Power BI, SPSS, Oracle, R.
