The study program

Do you want to analyze data in agile projects and understand the business impact of decisions? As a business information scientist, business economist or computer scientist, you are already very familiar with the problems of operational processes and are possibly already dedicated to the task of optimally designing information and communication systems in a company? Then the contents of this master's degree program are just right for you! At the end of this program, you will be able to plan, implement, manage and control complex IT projects to achieve strategic corporate goals. You will be able to assess the scope that a suitable IT strategy has on the company's success and what contribution it makes to the strategic development of a company. And you will learn why "Strategic Information Management" requires a holistic and integrative approach and is clearly more than just securing competitive advantages. The collection and analysis of data and efficient business processes are the backbone of successful companies. Managing companies today is inconceivable without correct and timely information and the use of the Internet as well as innovative methods and IT tools.

Career prospects

The Strategic Information Management course qualifies you for a variety of management roles. Possible fields of application and employment are found at the interface between specialized departments and IT, as assistant to top decision-makers or in corporate line positions (business development, marketing, controlling, etc.). Your knowledge can also be used in the broad field of IT and corporate consulting or in the financial services sector.

Study structure

The degree program is designed for three semesters and is divided into the subject areas 1) Information Management with a focus on Business Analytics and Data Management, 2) Digitalization, Strategy and Risk Management, 3) Organization and Leadership. The requirements for the effectiveness and efficiency of the use of IT resources in a company are complex and demanding. Not least because many business processes are handled partially or completely via the Internet and the associated IT systems. Companies are increasingly becoming a "data-driven business", where information is collected automatically and forms the basis for decisions. The individual modules thoroughly prepare you for this. The following software and apps are used, among others: Python, SQL, Power BI, SPSS, Oracle, R.
