With our Master's degree program in Business Information Systems, we offer you a high-profile, practice-oriented degree course to enable you to qualify specifically for such positions. The program combines two focal points: In the subject area of digital transformation, you will acquire expertise and application knowledge in areas such as corporate entrepreneurship or strategic process management. In the subject area of data science, you will expand this knowledge with know-how and experience in the professional analysis of big data.

About your studies

  • In the subject area of data Science, you will deal with the fundamentals of data science as well as predictive analytics, data mining and data engineering,
  • In the subject area of digital transformation, the focus is on strategic process management, enterprise architecture management and corporate entrepreneurship. In the winter semester, you will have the opportunity to participate in a one-week excursion to Regis College in Boston (USA) as part of the Corporate Entrepreneurship module.
  • In both fields of study, you will also complete a comprehensive project module in which you will apply the knowledge you have acquired in a practical context.
  • You will complete your studies with your master's thesis, which you can write in collaboration with a company if you wish.
  • If you wish, you can spend a semester abroad at one of our international partner universities. Together with our International Office, we will support you with all organizational matters.
  • An agreement with Deakin University, an internationally renowned university, allows you to earn two degrees: a German Master of Science at Frankfurt UAS and an Australian Master of Science at Deakin University. For this, you will spend two additional trimesters in Melbourne.

  • Master's graduates in Information Systems are sought after worldwide in almost all industries and can expect excellent starting salaries. Their fields of application are wide-ranging: As experts in large and medium-sized companies, consulting firms or public institutions, for example, they manage IT projects and implement these projects. They manage IT infrastructure and software in the corporate environment and contribute to the holistic design of value networks. Or they analyze large quantities of quantitative and qualitative data and in order to gain valid, action-relevant information about target groups, customer needs and market developments.
  • Our Master's degree in Business Information Systems also qualifies you for a doctorate. You can do your PhD at our PhD Center Applied Computer Science or in cooperation with one of our partner universities, such as Deakin University in Australia or the Universidad de Cádiz in Spain.

Admission and enrollment

The course of study is free of admission. Prospective students can be admitted to the program if they have

  • a first university degree qualifying for a profession in the fields of business informatics or computer science with at least 210 ECTS credits and an overall grade of at least 2.5.
    In the preceding studies, the following topics must have been covered: Fundamentals of business informatics, business basics, programming, software engineering, mathematics (especially statistics) and project management. The examination board decides whether the submitted degree meets the admission requirements.
  • have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree program with at least 180 ECTS credits and less than 210 ECTS credits. In these cases, admission is granted for the 4-semester study program.
  • Applicants with final grades of 2.1 to 2.5 must attend an aptitude interview.

All prospective students must provide proof of English language proficiency at level B2.
When applying, please submit proof of language proficiency (for example, by TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate, or DAAD) that demonstrates a language proficiency of at least B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) recommended by the Council of Europe and that is not older than three years. The proof of English language skills can be waived if you have obtained your first professional university degree in the English language area or at a bilingual educational institution or have completed at least 25 ECTS credits in English-language modules.

If you have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (B.Sc.), Business Information Systems (B.Sc.), Engineering Business Information Systems (B.Sc.) or International Business Information Systems (B.Sc.) from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, you do not need proof of English.
