Study Industrial engineering online (B. Eng.)

Information for prospective students of Industrial Engineering online (B.Eng.)

The perfect synthesis of studying, family and profession.

Industrial engineers are generally trained executive leaders; their trans-sectoral knowledge facilitates an integrated management. Industrial engineers are appropriately equipped to overcome barriers between technology and management, economy and sciences due to their interdisciplinary training in natural and engineering sciences, as well as the training in legal and economic aspects. They connect the different understandings of these areas, mediate between the different ways of thinking and help bridge knowledge boundaries. Industrial engineers can be basically employed in every company segment on a national and international level with these skills.

The degree course combines industrial engineering a broad orientation (particularly in economics and mechanical engineering) with the acquisition of interdisciplinary key qualifications (such as i.e. information technologies, social competence, languages). Graduates are able to understand complex processes through integrating thought and course of actions methodically and find appropriate solutions for practical problems after their graduation.

Industrial engineering has become one of the most popular degree courses in Germany over the past years. Industrial engineers are highly sought-after specialized staff and executives on the labor market due to their manifold qualifications and versatile training.

Why is this the case?

Industrial engineering is a practice-oriented interdisciplinary degree course that optimally combines technical aspects and economics. Value-added processes in the industry are marked by complex questions, whose solution require this particular knowledge. Industrial engineers ideally meet this requirement profile.

Modularization during the studies is a study structure, in which courses such as lectures, exercises, practical internships, excursions, excursions or seminars about certain topics are combined in modules. The structure of a module is determined by the competence, which is to be achieved upon completion of the module.

The module manual entails information on the duration, credits, type of examination, requirements, study results, workload, type of learning, content, literature, and the representative of the module of a degree course. Further information can be found in the guidelines for the modularization and credit point awarding in accordance with the federal commission. The module overview and the study content can be downloaded in form of a PDF.

Modules

Admission requirements

  • Basic modules in engineering and economics need to be completed first. At a later point in time, advanced modules can be chosen in both areas.
  • The focus of the engineering subjects is on mechanical engineering. Machine elements, material sciences, production technology, mechanics and technical thermodynamics are part of it.
  • In the frame of the economic subjects, topics such as logistics, marketing and controlling are intensively looked at because they play a major role in the typical areas of work of industrial engineers.
  • Professional emphases can be set in the compulsory area (see module overview).

The teaching method is characteristic for the bachelor degree course Industrial Engineering Online at the Frankfurt UAS: It is an online degree course, which can be completed flexibly next to family and profession and may be completed up to 90 percent online via a learning room system at the computer. Only 10 percent need to take place in lectures onsite of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

The used e-learning methods (multimedia prepared learning material for self-study, eLectures, online support in web conferences and forums) allow a place and time-independent learning. This flexibility allows the combining of family, profession and studies.

Industrial engineers are able to successfully work at the cusp of the interface between technology and management and act as an important link between different operational functions due to their competence, extensive qualifications and their analytical skills.

Thanks to an interdisciplinary training, you can be basically employed in any segment of a company on a national and international level. You do not only have knowledge in natural and engineering sciences but also in law and economics. Therefore the tasks of an industrial engineer are interesting, manifold and multifaceted.

Their outstanding profile often allows industrial engineers careers in exposed executive positions.

The degree course takes mainly place online (e-learning, video conferences, forums etc.).
Attendance phases are mainly on Fridays and Saturdays at the Frankfurt UAS.
Degree course coordinator: Prof. Dr. Dominico.
In addition to the semester fees, students must pay a media user fee for each module they take part in (EUR 78). The schedule of fees is in progress; as well as the examination regulations. The accreditation is applied for.
